Visitor Visa for Studying Chinese Purpose

If you are expected to study in Taiwan for more than one semester (3 months), it is recommended to apply for a visitor visa for studying Chinese purpose.

Requirements for applying the visa:
●Application form
●Two passport-size photos in color within 6 months
●Passport (original & photocopy)
●Admission letter(original & photocopy)
●Plan for studying Chinese (original & photocopy)
●Proof of financial support (original & photocopy)

After obtaining a visa for studying Chinese purpose, please confirm the following information:

①Visa Type:To make sure that the visa is a visitor or resident visa.

②Enter before:The deadline for entering Taiwan by using this visa.

③Duration of stay:Usually 60 days or 90 days, and please confirm if there are any additional notes, such like "No extension".
◆The duration of stay starts from the day after arrival. Please calculate the visa expiration date by yourself, and extend your visa or leave the country before expiration to avoid overstaying.

④Entries:Divided into single and multiple entries.
◆Single entries mean that the visa will expire after departure from Taiwan.
◆Multiple entries mean that the visa holder can enter and leave Taiwan multiple times before the entry deadline, and the duration of stay will be recalculated after each entry.

⑤Visa number

⑥Remarks:To make sure that the remarks section shows "FR 中國文化大學華語中心".
◆If the remarks section shows the FR visa code with the language center's name, then it means that the visa is a visitor visa for studying Chinese purposes.

Please note:

1. MLC only provides admission letters to students who would like to apply for a visa to study Mandarin purposes and won't issue them to students who sign up for short-term courses (less than one semester).

2. Foreigners should go to the nearest Taiwan embassy, consulate, or representative agency to apply for a visitor visa for studying Chinese purpose, instead of applying for or converting to a visa for the purpose of studying Chinese in Taiwan.

3. The working days it takes for visa application varies according to each Taiwan overseas representative office.
    Please contact the local Taiwan representative office for details.
    Please apply as early as possible to avoid delays in arriving in Taiwan to study.

4. Students with a visitor visa for study Chinese purposes please arrive in Taiwan a week before the class starts.
    Please do not arrive in Taiwan too early to avoid affecting future visa duration of stay.
