Class Regulations

1).Class Times:

Each class period is 50 minutes with a 10-minute break. If the level of the class doesn't suit you, please go to the office and switch classes before the second Tuesday. You can switch classes one time only.
2).Grade Calculation:

Standard and Intensive Courses, 11 Weeks
Criteria Percent Explanation
Attendance 10% Percentage of total hours that the student attends class
Homework 15%  
Class Participation 20% Includes: attitude towards learning, group work, presentations, etc.
Tests 10%  
Midterm Exam 20% Either exam or presentation, depends on level
Final Exam 25% Tests the student’s speaking, listening, reading, and writing abilities

3).Classroom Rules

1.Only use Chinese when class is in session.
2.Do not use your cellphone or take calls during class to maintain a good learning environment.
3.To take a leave of absence, please fill out a 'leave of absence' form. First take it to your teacher, have them sign it, then go to the office for official approval. This is for your protection in case an issue comes up regarding your visa.

4).Expulsion or Repeating Courses

1.Absences: Full time students (15 hrs./week, 11 weeks) who need student visas may not miss more than a total of 30 class hours. If you miss 31 or more hours of class, you will not be allowed to continue studying at MLC. Classes are conducted with a 10-minute break every hour. If you arrive 15 minutes late or leave 15 minutes early, it is counted as an absence for one hour.
2.Grades: All students in all courses (Regular or Intensive), regardless if you need a student visa or not, must receive a total term grade of over 60. If your total term grade is below 60, you will not be allowed to continue studying in MLC.
3.Repeating a Course: Students whose final exam grades are lower than 60 will need to repeat the course. You can repeat a course an unlimited number of times.

5).B4 Digital Learning Center

1.The school has a computer lab on floor B4. Students can go there to take the TOCFL online tests after class.
2.You may bring light snacks (i.e. bread or drinks) to the B4 digital learning center if you wish to eat and relax.

6).4th Floor MLC Office Services

1.If you have any concerns about your courses or visa issues, please ask our staff on the 4th floor
2.The office has MLC student volunteers who can help you talk to our staff. To see when someone that speaks your first language is present, please refer to the bulletin board in our office.

7).500 NTD Friend Referral Bonus

1.This applies to people that wish to attend an intensive group class (a full semester of 15 hours per week).
2.Every time you refer a friend you receive one point.
3.When you enroll for a full term of intensive group classes (every day for 3 hours), you can use a point to reduce your tuition by 500 NTD. You can use a maximum of 2 points per term.
4.Your points must be used within 2 years of referral.
5.The MLC reserves the right to change the rules or cancel this promotion at any time. This includes but is not limited to who can participate, how to receive points, and the exchange of points into discounts.
